-Dr. Maya Angelou in All God’s Children Need Traveling Shoes
I’m going to share something you may not know. There are very few travel memoirs written by black authors. Do a search for black travel books. You may find a list with a few authors. It’s a short list. Yes, it’s growing, but the travel-memoir space is dominated by white writers, for many reasons. One reason is the complicated history of travel and Black people, from the continent of Africa and throughout the African Diaspora.
Over the years, I’ve researched this topic and I have a blog post about it coming up in the next few weeks. In the meantime, I’m sharing a review of the legendary Dr. Maya Angelou’s travel memoir, All God’s Children Need Traveling Shoes.
