Hello. I’m Alicia Joy (Formerly Alicia Joy Pierre), AKA Workcation Queen (I made that title up). I help people work from anywhere. I’m a writer, avid reader, and short-term nomad. I’ve been a short-term nomad for almost a decade. I take extended workcations. I travel + work online for a period of time, return to my home base, rinse and repeat whenever I want. I help people (typically women, 35 years old and up) to take a break from the ordinary, work remotely, and travel independently.
I love to do research and share what I find. I do a ton of
research on the topics of remote work, online freelancing, and nomadism. I share the most interesting bits I find.
Stuff I research and share:
1
List of remote-friendly companies that are hiring (I update this list several times a week)
2
3
The latest news in the world of nomading (living in different countries of the world): everything from visa info to in-depth country-specific reports.
A few random, nerdy facts about me:
*Before becoming a writer, I was a Registered Nurse (tough work but it gave me a front-row seat to life. I learned so much about people, trauma, joy, life, and everything in between).
*I don’t know how many countries I’ve been to. I don’t count countries. For me, it’s not a competition or a race. No judgment to those who do keep track, it’s all good, just not for me.
*I was pretty much born on a plane. True story. Maybe that’s one reason I don’t count countries. Sometimes I feel like I’ve been a nomad all my life. If you’ve watched any of my videos, you may notice I have a mix of an accent. Can you guess where I was raised? Give it a shot.
*I don’t think nomads/frequent travelers are more special/cool/enlightened than people who stay in one location all their lives. Traveling is great. But it doesn’t make you (or me) any better than someone else. I’m not a fan of travel snobbery.
*My favorite countries so far have been Mexico, Turkey, and Portugal.
